Not a thoroughbred sports car, but rather a sporty and elegant touring and utility vehicle: the 190 SL, which was presented as a roadster in its final version at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1955, was closely based on the 300 SL racing coupé in terms of style and promised appealing performance on the road with a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft that was newly developed at the time. Just how popular and successful the 190 SL really was is shown not least by the production figures: Between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 examples of the touring sports car were built in Sindelfingen, the majority of them for the US market. As a miniature model, the 190 SL now enriches the home collection and impresses with its attention to detail. The model car is not only painted in the authentic color, but also features a faithful representation of all interior details. The doors, hood and tailgate of the vehicle can be opened and provide a view of the interior. The precision model is supplied with an enclosed hard and soft top. A screwdriver is included to make it easy to remove the model from the packaging. A glove to protect against fingerprints on the glazing or the painted bodywork rounds off the scope of delivery.
