The year 1959 marked a turning point in the history of Mercedes-Benz, as it was at this time that a fundamentally revised passenger car range was presented. Under the motto ""The new six-cylinder - A class of its own"", three completely redesigned models appeared as successors to the previous cylinder types: the 220 b, 220 Sb and 220 SEb. What all models had in common was the very spacious and elegant bodywork, which was characterized above all by the characteristic tail fins - a design element that was to shape the name for an entire model generation. The new model series also set new standards in terms of safety, as a passenger cell with front and rear crumple zones was implemented for the first time. The models were also fitted with a padded dashboard and a steering wheel with a padded plate as well as the first wedge pin door locks of this type. Between 1959 and 1968, a total of 344,751 limousines and chassis of the 111 and 112 series were built at the Sindelfingen plant, and the hand-assembled precision model in die-cast zinc with plastic parts is modeled on these. Authenticity is a top priority for the miniature model: the model not only features a paint finish in an authentic color, but also provides a faithful representation of all interior details in the high-quality decorated and flocked interior. Six parts of the model can be opened (doors, hood and tailgate). The 1:18 scale model is supplied in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging, which includes a screwdriver and a glove. This allows the model to be removed from the packaging without leaving fingerprints on the glazing or bodywork.
